Wavefront Custom LASIK Treatment for the Chicago, Illinois Area

LASIK and PRKCustom LASIK is performed by our Chicago, Illinois refractive surgeons to correct the vision of patients who have myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. The procedure uses wavefront technology to record a map of the eye, allowing the LASIK surgeon to precisely shape the cornea during the custom LASIK procedure. The map, or blueprint, tracks lower order aberrations that cause refractive errors, as well as higher order aberrations that can cause glare and halos (common side effects associated with traditional LASIK). Because custom LASIK can correct both lower and higher order aberrations, the procedure produces better visual results than traditional LASIK, PRK, and CK® eye surgery.

While the wavefront map of the eye is being created, we also use iris registration to ensure proper pupil alignment during the custom LASIK procedure. Because some patients' eyes rotate when going from sitting to a lying position, we take photographs of the iris to maximize the accuracy of treatment. This combination of custom LASIK and iris registration provides our Chicago, Illinois patients with the most precise treatment possible today.
